MZ Architects' Award-Winning Design Revolutionizes Luxury Accommodation in Doha

The W brand, launched in 1998 with the W New York, has become the fastest-growing luxury hotel brand in the world. Each hotel offers a unique mix of innovative design and comfort. The W Doha Hotel & Residences is no exception. The client brief called for an iconic mid-rise hotel with approximately 71,500 sqm of practical and efficient hotel and residential spaces. The result is a hotel distinctively inspired by the city of Doha, mixing cutting-edge design with local influences.

The design proposed by MZ Architects is simple yet modern and contemporary. The structure is innovative and cutting-edge, with comfortable and cozy spaces. The dramatically sculpted volume is a response to the client’s vision of a stand-alone structure that is efficient and eye-catching.

The W Doha Hotel & Residences is located in the heart of Doha, with high-energy interiors and vivid lifestyle-driven design by interior designers ‘United Designers’ of London. The hotel is both extroverted in its strong forms and introverted in the sense that the exterior gives little away about what is happening inside. The serviced apartments offer a new kind of accommodation, catering to the "modern, tech-savvy travellers who appreciate the sophistication that the W offers in terms of facilities and service as well as attitude".

The hotel features 441 rooms blending vivid interiors and stunning views of the Arabian Gulf, and 635 systems including 31 suites and 154 W branded Residences, three signature restaurants, three stylish lounges for guests to mix and mingle, a poolside outdoor shisha lounge, champagne bar, event space, and luxury retail space. The suites, located in a pointy part of the building, are inherently dramatic because of their unusual, angular shape.
